Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Air and Ocean Import Coordinator to join our logistics team in Salt Lake City, Utah. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating the importation of goods via air and ocean freight, ensuring compliance with regulations, and delivering exceptional customer service. This role requires a strong understanding of international shipping procedures and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Shipment Coordination: Arrange and manage the end-to-end import process for air and ocean shipments, including booking cargo, tracking shipments, and resolving delays.
- Documentation: Prepare, review, and verify shipping documents such as bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
- Customs Compliance: Ensure all shipments comply with international trade regulations, including customs clearance procedures and tariff classifications.
- Vendor Management: Communicate and collaborate with freight forwarders, carriers, customs brokers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Customer Service: Provide clients with updates on shipment status, address inquiries, and resolve issues to ensure satisfaction.
- Data Entry and Reporting: Maintain accurate shipment records, update tracking systems, and generate reports for management as needed.
- Cost Control: Monitor shipping costs, negotiate rates with carriers, and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Problem Resolution: Address and resolve discrepancies, delays, or other issues that may arise during the import process.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, or related field (preferred but not required).
- Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in air and ocean import coordination or freight forwarding.
- Familiarity with international shipping and customs procedures.
- Skills:
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Knowledge of Incoterms and HTS codes.
